If you receive a refund every year, you have a good Tax Professional, right??? Not always. Technically, a tax refund is the IRS (or State) refunding money that you over-paid them in the first place.
Some folks prefer to have a refund rather than owing every year and this is a good idea as long as your refund isn’t a big one. If you have a large refund, you either qualify for a really nice tax credit, or you’ve paid too much in tax throughout the year.
A good Tax Professional will be willing to provide additional services to you throughout the year to make sure you are only paying the amount of tax you should. However, this requires current information from you throughout the year as well as more work on the Tax Professional’s part to assist you, so be prepared that this additional customer service will also come at an additional fee.
It should be well worth the investment, as many folks save thousands of dollars in tax while paying their tax professional considerably less than that for invaluable insight and knowledge. This is especially important the more complicated your taxes get, such as if you have a Sole-Proprietorship, LLC, Corporation, or Partnership. Business owners don’t know what they don’t know, unless they are willing to invest in a tax expert who will guide them along the way. Of course, the other way for a business owner to find out what they don’t know is with a huge tax bill or audit from the IRS (or State).
Ideally, folks want to obtain valuable insight BEFORE there is a problem. HOWEVER, if you’re one of those folks who found yourself in a sticky situation with the IRS (or State), not all hope is lost as I am an expert at helping folks resolve those situations. Feel free to call or text (916) 439-9373 to stop the tax nightmare.
